Le Mans Classic 2023

"Isn't this just pure gasoline heaven?" - An exciting journey through the diversity of car culture on the streets of Le Mans. The variety of cars on display was staggering, from vintage icons like the Jaguar E-Type to racing legends like the Porsche 917.

The Le Mans Classic is a biennial vintage sports car event that takes place on the grounds of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit in Le Mans, France. It was created by Peter Auto and Richard Mille and is associated with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), the organization responsible for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The event was first held in 2002 and has since been held every two years in July, using the full 13.65 km circuit, which is also utilized for the annual modern-day 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

One of the unique aspects of the Le Mans Classic is that it provides participants with the opportunity to race their vintage cars on the same circuit that was once used for the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The full circuit, including sections that are part of public roads during the rest of the year, is closed specifically for this event, allowing car owners and gentleman drivers to experience the thrill and challenges of racing on this historic track.

The event is structured around a series of races featuring cars that have previously competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans or similar models from the same era. The traditional classes include cars from before 1981, which are further divided into six different eras. To participate in the races, drivers must hold an FIA International Competition license, indicating a professional level of driving skill.

Over the years, the organizers have introduced three new classes to reflect the history of the event and accommodate additional types of vintage cars.

Aside from the races, the Le Mans Classic also features car shows and auctions hosted on the Bugatti Circuit grounds. Various car clubs gather during the event to showcase their machinery, providing a great opportunity for enthusiasts and spectators to witness a stunning array of vintage sports cars.

Overall, the Le Mans Classic is a prestigious and exciting event that celebrates the history and heritage of motorsports, offering participants and spectators a unique and memorable experience on the iconic Le Mans circuit.
